Stichting Verenigde Adoptanten Amerikaanse Oorlogsgraven
Foundation United Caretakers American War Graves

winterWelcome on the Adoptiegraven.nl homepage, website of the Stichting Verenigde Adoptanten Amerikaanse Oorlogsgraven (Foundation United Caretakers American War Graves) in the Netherlands, which was founded in July 2011. Adoptiegraven.nl, however, has been online since 2007, but not as the official foundation it is now.

This foundation aims to help caretakers of American war graves with their research on the soldier whose graves they have adopted via various projects. Therefore, you will find on our website various tips on where to find and request information on American soldiers who served in World War Two and who gave their lives for freedom. Some of these tips can be found in the "Research" section on this website or on our forum. Furthermore, the foundation will do research to the soldiers buried in the American War Cemeteries Ardennes, Henri-Chapelle, and Netherlands itself.

Of course, you will also find more information on our Foundation and our projects on this website, including on our Fields of Honor - Database, in which information can be found on thousands of American soldiers buried in overseas American war cemeteries in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Please note that this is not the website of the Foundation Adoption Graves American Cemetery Margraten. To go to their website, please click here.

Moreover, you can also download letters and forms from our forums, which you can use to request information in the United States.

Especially for non-Dutch speaking members, we have set up two forums in our English section. We hope to welcome you there! Please click here to go to the forums.

About the Foundation

american cemetery_henri_chapelle_3Stichting Verenigde Adoptanten Amerikaanse Oorlogsgraven (Foundation United Caretakers American War Graves) was founded in July 2011. Formerly, it was known as just Adoptiegraven.nl, a website that was founded by current chairman Sebastiaan Vonk in 2007. It was not until 2011, that it became the official foundation it now is.

The goals of this foundation are up to a high extent similar to those which Adoptiegraven.nl had. The foundation aims to gather information on our American liberators in World War Two and to make this information available to a bigger public through the Fields of Honor - Database. Furthermore, the foundation hopes to serve as an online platform where caretakers can meet for purposes that include, but that are not limited to, sharing information about the soldiers whose graves they have adopted and helping each other with their researches.

More information on the foundation's board members and volunteers, the foundation's history, and how you could contribute to this foundation, can be found here.
